While some of you opt to abstain from alcoholic beverages all year long, the idea of abstaining from booze for a month or so is becoming more common, and Dry January has been firmly entrenched in our national consciousness. It seems that the allure of saving money, slimming down, and avoiding hangovers is a powerful attraction.
Creating soft drinks that have the same level of zinc as their alcoholic counterparts may be difficult, but we have some non-alcoholic beverages suggestions to ensure that non-drinkers do not lose out on any of the actions.

1. Citrus and peach iced tea
In the event that you are refraining from alcoholic beverages, there is an abundance of seasonal fruit available to make into beautiful punches. Do you want something easy and refreshing to serve during a summer party? Try our citrus peach cooler for a refreshing treat. During the winter months, citrus fruits such as grapefruit, pomelo, and clementines are in season, but blood oranges are our favourite. They are only available for a limited period of time towards the end of winter, so take advantage of their rich crimson flesh while you still can. In our drivers' punch, we'll use them to create a refreshing drink full of flavour.
2. Homemade cordial (optional)
Producing a pot of homemade fruit cordial should be plenty to get you through the first several weeks of a dryathlon programme. Make an effort to utilise seasonal ingredients, and for a simple combination, combine just sugar and water. Elderflower is a good choice and can frequently be found foraged – just be sure to brush off any bugs – or you can use seasonal berries instead. Cordials may be kept in the refrigerator for many months if they are stored in sterile jars.
3. A mocktail made with pomegranate and mint
When it comes to partying, nothing beats a wonderful drink, and nothing screams party quite like a delicious cocktail. Instead of rum, try this refreshing pomegranate-based drink. Using a rolling pin or your hands, whack the mint leaves together to release the oils, which will ensure that the dish has lots of flavour.
4. Smoothies
Increase your vitamin intake by blending a fruit-based smoothie in a blender. Then, using your favourite ingredients, follow our guidance to create the ideal mix, and get creative with flavourings such as peanut butter and spices. If you really want to be virtuous, consider including veggies in your smoothie - a green detox smoothie prepared with coconut water, apple, kiwi, and spinach is a truly invigorating beverage.
5. Apple juice with mulling spices
Mulling is a method that may be used with a variety of base beverages and is often reserved for festive occasions. To make your own, use apple or pear juice and season with spices to suit — a squeeze of lemon or lime, a pinch of cinnamon, and a sweetener such as honey or agave syrup should do the job.
6. Tropical fizz that is not alcoholic
Make excellent use of canned fruit in this sparkling quencher, which includes kiwi, strawberries, and pineapple, among other ingredients. For the base, look for a decent tropical fruit juice – or, if you have a juicer, you could try creating your own with anything from mango and lychees to fresh passion fruit – and serve it chilled.
7. Apple, elderflower, and mint combine to create a sparkling effect
Make use of your prepared elderflower cordial by blending it with apple juice, fresh mint, and a splash of soda water for a refreshing drink. If you don't have mint on hand, you may use fresh rosemary for the cordial if you like.
8. Freshly squeezed lemonade and limeade
Instead of buying store-bought lemonade, make your own murky concoction. If you want to experiment with different flavour combinations, consider adding a variety of seasonal fruits to make a vibrant non-alcoholic glassful.
Lime makes for a zesty drink; just puree the limes whole into a pulp and mix with soda water for a refreshing treat. If you're serving this dish to someone that likes a drink, you may use vodka or rum instead of gin.
9. Lassi
This cold and delicious Indian beverage is intended to soothe the taste after consuming spicy meals. It has a yoghurt base, which may be made savoury by adding cumin and coriander, or sweet by adding rosewater and sugar, as in this recipe. We also have a mango variation with pistachios and mint added to the mix.
10. Water
Although it may seem a little stodgy, keeping hydrated by consuming water in its purest form is very beneficial to every area of the body. Add fresh herbs like rosemary, basil, and mint, as well as healthy squeezes of lime or lemon juice, hot ginger, and slices of cold, refreshing cucumber to make it more interesting.
